Our belief is that that you don’t have to trade your conscience to operate a successful business and as such we proudly support other small businesses, believe in giving back to the community and are committed to environmentally sustainable business practices.

We try to effectively manage our environmental impact wherever possible. Our stationary is printed on recycled paper using soy based inks and waterless printing. The printer of our choice is an accredited 100% Greenpower-Accredited Renewable Energy user, and a Climate Neutral business accredited with Environmental Choice Australia. We choose to use recycled packaging for posting our customer orders. The padded mailer bags are made from 90% recycled paper fibres with 50% post-consumer content and are reusable or recyclable. The cardboard packaging we use is made from 100% recycled card and are also reusable or recyclable.

Our everyday practices and decision making involve us in actively reusing, recycling and using second hand alternatives whenever possible. If at any time you receive an order from eco diseno which contains plastics such as bubble wrap it is because we are reusing these materials which have been sent to us and hope that you to will continue their reuse. Our warehousing consists of second hand storage units and materials wherever possible.

We prefer to source products from ethical and environmentally aware companies preferably with certification. It is important to us that the products we offer are either, reusable, recyclable, biodegradable or fair trade.

eco diseno’s administration is based in Perth, Western Australia however, we have chosen to base our distribution in Victoria. This decision was based on research which showed that the majority of our customer base resides on the eastern seaboard and allows us to reduce our environmental impact by reducing the number of miles our products travel not only from our suppliers to us but also from us to you our customers.

We are committed to donate 2% of our annual profit to Earthwatch Australia. Earthwatch was founded in 1971 in Boston, Massachusetts. A need to invent a new funding model for scientific research became apparent, as dwindling government funding was combined with an increased urgency in the need for scientific information and action. Earthwatch started with just 4 hand-picked scientists from the Smithsonian Institute, and 39 volunteers working on these 4 teams. Last year, over 3500 volunteers have worked on Earthwatch projects, which have grown to 140 projects in over 50 countries around the world. Earthwatch Australia was founded in 1982, more than a decade after the original Earthwatch concept was launched. There are now four offices worldwide located in Boston, Melbourne, Oxford and Japan. Earthwatch has earned the respect of organisations and agencies by involving local scientists, volunteers, business leaders and all those concerned with conservation across Australia. We do not claim to be perfect but we are determined to keeping improving our business practices. eco diseno is committed to continue to learn about best environmental practice and is a member of The Green Advantage for Small Business program which was developed by Edith Cowan University’s Small and Medium Enterprise Research Centre (SMERC) to deliver practical tools and advice to small business managers and operators about how to effectively improve environmental management. Individually small businesses have an insignificant impact on the environment but collectively they leave a huge environmental footprint which could be as high as 60-70% of total pollution (SMERC).
